Stanley Odd / Hector Bizerk Co-Headline show at Oran Mor

Stanley Odd are back to play a couple of shows over the next couple of months, a co-headline with Hector Bezerk at Oran Mor (as part of Glasgow’s West End Festival) and today can announce a very special show with the ten piece Electric String Orchestra at Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on Friday 2 August.

Tickets for the latter onsale today at https://www.edfringe.com/whats-on/music/stanley-odd?day=02-08-2013&performance=1%3A57514#book

Solareye has also announced two solo shows himself – headlining Voodoo Rooms on 29 May and in the Solus Tent at Wickerman Festival on 26 July.

After the success of the Celtic Connections show in January, where the seemingly-but-no-so disparate string orchestra and Scottish hip hop of Stanley Odd played together for the first time and won such praise, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival performance promises to be quite the spectacular. Here’s a wee taster of what you might expect...

The band will be playing selection of previous material and tracks from last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Reject’ album, which was recently nominated for the prestigious Scottish Album Of The Year award (PR attached).

‘Reject’ will be available to stream as the Album Of The Day on Thursday (16 May) on the SAY Award site at http://www.sayaward.com.

Been a great few months for the band generally, winning the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Big Apple Award and getting to play shows with The View in New York last month, providing the music for the Winter In Edinburgh TV advert, the aforementioned Celtic Connections show with Electric String Orchestra back in January and now the nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year Award.

Solareye : "2014 has been amazing so far; from playing in New York, to the reception that Reject has been getting, its all really encouraging. One of the coolest things weve done at all, never mind this year, was the gig with the Electric String Orchestra at Celtic Connections and were mad excited about working on a few more arrangements and doing another show with them at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August."

Electric String Orchestra : “To collaborate again with Stanley Odd is an amazing opportunity. We are working on new tracks to expand from the Celtic Connections show and a few surprises too...”

Stanley Odd are currently recording tracks for their third album, expect another Solareye EP in the Autumn. Electric String Orchestra (and associated Cairn String Quartet) will have some very exciting news very soon...
