International DJ, Steve Angello, and one of the hottest new dance acts, Oliver Heldens, have been announced as the support act for David Guetta at this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions - Scotland’s only annual outdoor city music festival.
The Greek-Swedish superstar, Angello, will take to the stage in front of revellers at Bellahouston Park on Saturday 16th August, playing some of his biggest hits ahead of Guetta’s much anticipated appearance.
Joining him on the bill is fresh-on-the-scene producer, Heldens, who, at the age of 19, has already been signed to renowned label, Spinnin’ Records. He recently released his debut single ‘Gecko’ via Tiesto’s label, Musical Freedom, to huge global praise and is set to take 2014’s charts by storm.
The exciting announcement comes soon after the news that US rock stars, The Killers will also be headlining the festival. With support from the mighty Courteeners and Miles Kane, this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions is shaping up to have one of the best line-ups of the summer.
Tickets are on sale NOW and are available to over 18s only. Tickets are available via www.gigsinscotland.com, www.glasgowsummersessions.com or by calling 08444 999 990.
Perhaps better known as one third of international supergroup Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello has been mixing music since he was 12 years old. Building a name for himself in the house music scene from 2004, Angello was soon working with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Pendulum, Eric Prydz and David Guetta. Forming Swedish House Mafia with childhood friend, Sebastian Ingrosso and fellow DJ Axwell in 2008, the band quickly achieved global fame and were soon being hailed as the poster-boys for mainstream house. In 2011, DJ Magazine ranked the group as number 10 on the Top 100 DJ Poll, while Angello himself featured at number 23. Throughout the band’s chart success, Angello continued to produce music for various artists and launched his own record label, Size Records, home to such acts as Tim Mason, Qulinez, Third Party and Junior Sanchez. Having played at countless sold-out festivals, Angello is certainly well versed on how to work a crowd, so his Summer Sessions performance certainly won’t disappoint.
Says Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts & Events: “We’re absolutely delighted that Steve Angello will be supporting David Guetta during his first major outdoor solo show in Scotland. Having two of the biggest names in dance music come to Glasgow is incredible and both certainly know how to get the crowd going. Angello’s performances are always bursting with energy and we can’t wait to see how he interacts with the Scottish crowd.”
A huge asset for the city, last year Glasgow Summer Sessions attracted international stars including Eminem, Tinie Tempah, Avicii and Kings Of Leon, selling more than 100,000 tickets.
