Note to the editor
NYOS Strings evolved from a group of 22 string players from The National Children’s Orchestra of Scotland that was invited to the 2004 Tianjin International Children’s Culture and Arts Festival in China. The ensemble was the first group from Britain ever to perform at this high profile event and the festival was an unforgettable experience for all involved.
Due to the great success of the concert and the enthusiasm of the young musicians, NYOS Strings has become established as a permanent NYOS project and has since enjoyed performing in some of Scotland’s most prestigious concert halls.
Through the ensemble NYOS’ young string musicians gain invaluable performance experience and are able to focus on and develop their talent in an uniquely inspiring and nurturing environment.
