The Libertines drummers protget Lizzie Nightingale releases Sparkle

Scottish songbird Lizzie Nightingale is preparing to take her place as one of the UK’s most talented new artists. Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Lizzie spent her early years doused in Bowie, The Beatles and Queen as well as a few Motown classics courtesy of her mother who was a singer and performer. Harmonies and melodies came easily and after mastering clarinet and everything major to minor in between, the music bug took control.

Lizzie, with her goals firmly in sight, released a compilation of demo tracks in a bid to be heard. She gained immediate support from Radio 1, Radio 2 and Galaxy FM and sold units in the thousands in the UK and Japan. The success of the EP led to a Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1. The response to her music solidified the idea that she could continue to progress further within music, and so she did.

After moving from Glasgow to London, Lizzie started to perform live at every given opportunity. It was at one of these gigs that she caught the eye of Libertinesdrummer, Gary Powell, who instantly recognised Lizzies talent and potential and approached her to discover more. A firm friendship followed, and Gary soon officially signed Miss Nightingale to his new label, 25 Hour Convenience, with high hopes for her future, and the future of the label.

Left, Right, Left was the buzz single that was released on 25 Hour Convenience Records, receiving critical acclaim, and paving the way for more live opportunities, radio support and reviews, and overall giving Lizzie the legs she needed to introduce her sound and quirky individuality to the industry.

2011 sees Lizzie recording her self penned and co-produced debut album Room To Fall with Tom Aitkenhead whose credentials are vast having worked on a regular basis for top acts including The Noisettes, The Kooks, Pete Doherty, Laura Marling, Mystery Jets, Statik and many more. She hopes the album will further establish her musical ability and creativity, as well as her audience. The music and stories on the album are very personal to Lizzie, who likes to class herself as a bit of a sonic storyteller, with each song being written about a real life event or situation she has come across in her life, or the lives of those close to her. The result is a dynamic, emotional journey, a dose of real music and talent that the music scene has been craving for so long.

Sparkle, is her next single to be released on May 30th through 25 Hour Convenience Records, a mixture of live instruments, dubstep influenced drums, and soaring, haunting vocals sure to provoke a shiver or two. Produced by Joel Hartman (2000fast women) and written by Lizzie, Sparkle does exactly what it says on the tin. Remixes come courtesy of Mischief Makers (Professor Green, Example, Duffy), who also remixed Left, Right, Left, as well as a mix by Lizzies own production outfit with producer Show N Prove, aptly named Team Tartan, giving a salute to both of their Scottish roots. Label head Gary Powell also provides a potent kick with his own remix of Sparkle proving his musical prowess doesnt only involve drumming!

With vocal influences from Fleetwood Mac to Annie Lennox, and the versatile voice to carry it off, Lizzie Nightingale is definitely one to watch.
