Fashionistas from across Scotland bring their glamour and style to The Corinthian, Glasgow, on August 26, in aid of Oxfam for the Oxjam’s Glammin fundraising fashion show.
The event begins at 19:00 on Friday August 26 2011. The evening will be hosed by The Hour’s showbiz reporter Rosa Zambonini and entertainment provided by Glasgow’s most popular drag queens who host regular club nights around town Lady Munter, Vanity von Glow and Demimonde.
Alison Miller (24), Glasgow Takeover Manager, said: “Oxjam’s Glammin is taking over the downstairs of The Corinthian on August 26th to host a fantastic fashion show with all proceeds going directly to Oxfam. The clothes will be hand picked, by several professional stylists, from the Oxfam shops and pieced together to create some fantastic ‘off the runway’ looks. All the clothes featured in the show will be available to buy once the show is finished with all proceeds going to Oxfam.”
Running order for the night:
19:00 Doors open, drinks on arrival
20:30 First half of fashion show
20:45 Show stops // Entertainment begins // Canapés served
21:15 Second half of fashion show
21:30 Show ends // Raffle drawn // Opportunity to purchase clothes from the catwalk
22:00 Club opens
Tickets, priced at £10 (includes drinks on arrival, the fashion show and entertainment, mid evening canapés, and entry to The Corinthian’s monthly Studio 191 club night), are available from Ticketsoup.com.
Oxjam’s Glammin goers will also be able to purchase raffle tickets throughout the evening, prizes include Snoop Dogg tickets, Essensuals vouchers, and many more.
The event is one of a series of fundraising gigs put on to raise money for Oxfam from June to October this year. They will culminate in a Takeover bonanza in October. The Oxjam Glasgow Takeover on 22 October 2011 is a multi-venue one-wristband-gives-access-to-all taking place in venues across Glasgow city centre (venues include, but not limited to, the Buff Club, G2, Box, Sleazys and Bloc).
Local Music. Global Impact
-------------
• The first Oxjam festival took place in October 2006. Since then almost 40,000 musicians have played to over 800,000 people at around 3,000 Oxjam events nationwide. These diverse local music events have ranged from the Oxjam Takeovers; to a sponsored busk on top of Ben Nevis, and everything in between.
• Oxjam has raised over £1.5 million in total for Oxfam: enough to buy 10,619 emergency shelters, 48,000 goats or 705 classrooms.
• Oxjam is a grassroots festival, created by a network of music lovers stretching from Penzance to Fort William. Oxjam is thousands of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of fans making music and fighting poverty in their local communities.
