BIG STOOSHIE ANNOUNCES SECOND STAGE LINEUP

Scotland’s Charity Music Festival “The Big Stooshie” has announced the line-up for its Kingdom FM stage.

The 1200 capacity marquee will play host to some of the country’s finest unsigned acts over the weekend, with THE NATURE BOYS, THE DRAYMIN and THE LAW confirmed to headline over the three evenings.

Edinburgh outfit The Nature Boys are renowned for their live brand of danceable tunes that can entertain any crowd. The band has been trailblazing venues up and down the country generating wide acclaim and exciting fans with their fantastically raucous live shows. With strong backing from the likes of The List magazine along with many in the music industry, it is clear to see that the band will be a fantastic addition to the festival, as they headline the stage on the Friday night.

Fife superstars The Draymin are no strangers to the festival scene, having entertained crowds across the world. As well as playing T in the Park twice, Wickerman and The Great Escape down south, they also received rave reviews after their performance at SXSW in Texas, USA. The band also returns to Rock Ness this summer, where they are confirmed to make their third appearance at the festival.

With large publicity and radio airplay under their belts, including wide exposure from the BBC and a live session for The Sun newspaper, huge things are expected from the band’s debut album, due for release in April. “We are delighted to be playing the festival” says bassist Gec Livingstone, “We can’t wait to get the place bouncing on the Saturday night”.

Hailing from Dundee, The Law will close the stage on Sunday night. With instantly memorable bittersweet songs, stirring melodies and eloquent harmonies, they have gained a loyal fan base throughout the UK and beyond, and are sure to attract a large crowd with an electric atmosphere.

The band’s two albums have received critical acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1, NME, The Herald and Sunday Mail. They relentlessly toured Europe, as well as playing a host of festivals across the UK, including Rock Ness, Reading, Leeds and T in the Park, making the headlines in 2010 by performing twice on the same weekend, after another act had pulled out. The Dundonians are no strangers to large crowds, having performed as special guests of Paul Weller during his recent UK tour, and relish the chance to seal a special weekend on the Kingdom FM stage.

The remaining slots on the stage are being offered to up and coming acts through the Live & Unsigned contest, as well as a competition run via the official Big Stooshie Facebook page.

Fife Council has also confirmed their support for the festival. The councils Leisure & Cultural Services have awarded £9,000 to support the infrastructure costs of the stage. Team Leader Michelle Sweeney is delighted to become involved “75% of the new bands performing on the stage are from Fife and our support will help raise awareness of these fantastic new musicians”.

As part of the partnership with Kingdom FM, the Fife radio station will be broadcasting interviews and showcasing new material from many of the acts playing the stage over the coming weeks. For more information visit bigstooshie.com.
