All three songs are a dedication to Petes Father who recently became ill with bladder cancer. Briefly speaking of the single release Pete said, "I would like to say thank-you so much to everyone for all of your support and I hope you enjoy the songs."
Petes last show was an acoustic performance in his home town, Coatbridge, with former Oasis legend Bonehead, who recently backed up Alan McGees statement declaring that Pete is a huge home grown talent with special songs. Bonehead invited Scottish singer/songwriter Pete along to meet Noel Gallagher before his show at the SECC. The pair have since struck up a friendship over his music. After the SECC show Noel put Pete on his guest list for a special intimate show in Glasgows Grand Old Opry. Speaking of the meeting with Noel Pete said, "It was a special weekend I have to say. Bonehead and I had a great night out before we played in my home town, Coatbridge. I was barely a kid years ago watching Oasis at the SECC and on this occasion I was with Bonehead meeting Noel before the show, which was cool. Noel and I had a good chat in his dressing room about some things including my local show. Afterwards I was sitting with Bonehead taking in the gig. I met a lot of nice people at the show too who had recognised me from the interview in the paper with Bonehead from the previous day. It was great to get some Scottish Glaswegian support. Made me feel proud to be Scottish. The night ended well with Noel dedicating Whatever to Bonehead and we then played Coatbridge the next night. Even back then I had a vision taking in that Oasis gig. I still do...". Here is some footage of the dedication from Noel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lpwlQf2bBC0
Let It Shine is another upbeat and optimistic track from the well travelled songwriter. The artwork for the single was taken from Petes home and overlooks part of an area where he grew up. It shows part of a council estate in Kirkwood, Coatbridge, with the sun shining through the sky. Pete took the picture himself and once again worked together with German artist and photographer Stefan Duerr (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller) to give it the finishing touch.
