FOUR OF THE CITY’S FINEST ELECTO REPRESENTATITVES BATTLE IT OUT
Red Bull Culture Clash will hit The Arches in Glasgow on 18th October for a full assault on the city’s speakers in celebration of Glasgow’s belting bassline. The clash is just one event in a series of gigs organised to showcase the best of UK bass music, which will hit Glasgow, Birmingham and Bristol The tour will see some of the most influential crews go head to head, setting the scene for the Red Bull Culture Clash at Wembley Arena on 7th November.
Four of Glasgow’s freshest collectives are bracing themselves to go big at the musical battle with Sub Club, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Optimo and Arches 21 thrashing it out on the floor.
Always at the forefront of electronic music, Sub Club has played host to some of the world’s biggest players, and having recently celebrated 25 years on the scene will be flexing their floor filler muscle with founding fathers, Harri & Domenic. Fans have long seen Mungo’s Hi Fi take Scotland with their own brand of roots and dub boasting a collective made up of likeminded individuals who turn out their own unique sound clashes and DJ sets, with Tom Tattersall, Douglas Paine, Craig Macleod, James Whelan and Jerome Joly each readying themselves ahead of the clash.
In a similar league Optimo has helped shape the sound of Glasgow’s clubbing scene since it hit the circuit ten years ago and will be taking the reins with JD Twitch & JG Wilkes and special guests. Arches 21 will deliver producer and rising talent Koreless, who is consistently delivering his own brand of soulful electronica to the city. Let the battle commence……

Since the early days of Notting Hill Carnival, sound system culture has played a loud and proud part of Britains music scene, from the early days of lovers rock to today’s chart-breaking dubstep and grime. Red Bull Culture Clash pays tribute to this lineage, taking the clash concept to a whole new level. The 2012 edition is the third event of its kind to take place in London, but the first year that regional events have celebrated bass music reaching far into the four corners of the UK.

ABOUT RED BULL CULTURE CLASH
Red Bull Culture Clash is the third event of its kind to take place in the UK, the first forming part of London’s Red Bull Music Academy festival in 2010. Both events have taken place at Camden’s Roundhouse in March and October 2010 respectively. The event will start with a warm-up set at 7pm with the four rounds of the Culture Clash starting from 8pm. The rounds are broken into the following:
· NO ELIMINATION
The first round will see each artist playing a selection to gauge crowd reaction and warm up for the rest of the night.
· THE SELECTOR
Who has the best selector? The crowd decide as the soundsystems go head to head.
· SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY
One of the most controversial rounds of the Culture Clash: artists play tracks from their competing soundsystems’ genres.
· THE DECIDER
Time for the soundsystems to dig deep for the biggest tunes in their record bags for their chance to win over the audience once and for all. At the end of this round, the crowd will be asked to vote with their vocal chords as the Red Bull Culture Clash winner is decided – a decibel metre will be on hand to help hosts Tim Westwood and Gemma Cairney decide upon the winner.
· THE CROWNING
The winning crew will play out the night with their victory set
