One of the most definitive British bands of the early 1980s was no doubt The Psychedelic Furs, fronted by Richard Butler since their formation in 1977. They got their international breakthrough with the release of Love My Way in 1982 . They announced a 9 date UK tour in August stopping at the likes of Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester and of course... Glasgow.

It was a cold and miserable Scottish night, with torrential rain and strong winds, but that did not dampen the spirits of the attendees waiting to get into the venue to watch the veteran and of course, legendary act that is The Psychedelic Furs, everybody was looking forward to the show, nothing was going to ruin what was on offer at the O2 Academy in Glasgow.

Wendy James started off the night, best known for her work in the 1980s band Transvision Vamp, she mostly performed Transvision Vamp songs during her set such as Tell That Girl to Shut Up, I Want Your Love, If Looks Could Kill and finishing off with Baby I Dont Care which charted at number 3 in the UK charts in 1989.

The Furs then came on to a rapturous welcome from the crowd, the band went on to perform their biggest hits such as The Ghost in You, Love My Way, Heaven and of course... Pretty In Pink. Richard Butlers body language throughout the entire show was speaking a thousand words, constantly smiling, dancing and embracing the electric atmosphere, he was loving every bit of it and so was his spectators, it is this reason alone is why Glasgow is the place to be for live shows in Scotland and its why many huge acts come to play here.

The show continued with The Ghost In You, Sleep Comes Down, President Gas and after a short encore, they finished off the show with India. A pleasant end to a great night with the 40+ year old band still having the energy and the charisma that made them one of the UKs biggest acts in the 1980s.

A great success all around, despite the awful weather. Glasgow thanks you and we look forward to seeing you again, heres till next time Psychedelic Furs.
