Strung Out Guitars

Strung Out Guitars was established by Guitar Making College buddies Louise Carruthers and Paula Russell.

The girls met while studying HNC Stringed Instrument Repair in Glasgow under the expert eyes of William C. Kelday and Paul Hyland, two of Scotlands finest Luthiers.

After moving to London and completing HNDs in Musical Instrument Technology at London Guildhall University under the tuition of English Classical Guitar Maker David Whiteman, both ladies began working as self employed Guitar Technicians and Repairers at Andys Guitar Centre in Londons prestigious Denmark Street alongside ex-Led Zeppelin Guitar Tech and Guitar Guru, Tim Marten.

In 2003 Louise and Paula established Strung Out Guitars in Glasgow, an independently run Guitar Shop and Guitar Repair Workshop specialising in Second Hand and Vintage Guitars and Amps and of course- Guitar Repairs!

Situated in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City, the shop itself is nestled into a 100 year old railway arch in Kings Court.

The Guitar Repair Workshop is still the very heart of our business. We have had the pleasure to work for literally thousands of musicians over the years and every day brings something new. We love guitars and believe every guitar should be set up to play like a dream, regardless of Make, Model or Price. If you love guitars, then you have come to the right place!

Some of our more well known clients include : Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Sons and Daughters, The Kills, Idlewild, The Proclaimers, The Vaselines, The Fratellis, Cosmic Rough Riders, The 1990s, Foals, The View, The Lost Prophets, Glasvegas, How To Swim, Frightened Rabbit, Eddie Reader, Arcade Fire, Danananakroyd, Paulo Nuitini, The Sugababes (yes the Sugababes), Alex Norton (Taggart), Jim Symon (Radio Clyde DJ) , Gordon Brown (the then chancellor chose 2 ukuleles for his sons), and Prince Charles was personally given a Strung Out plectrum! These are just a few of the many thousands of people in the UK and worldwide who we are very proud to call our customers.

We never imagined the vast range of guitars and people who have walked through our doors over the years and we are very appreciative of our many loyal customers for their continued and valued support of this wee independent guitar shop and small business!

Strung Out Guitars, Your Wee Independent Guitar Shop Since 2003!
