Hard on the heels of their seventh LP The Journey, Wet Wet Wet are back to wish you a very Merry Christmas with a double A-sided digital single featuring Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas released on December 10th.
The band will be performing both of these beloved Christmas favourites, selections from The Journey and some classic Wet Wet Wet tunes on the BBC Scotland Quay Sessions special Christmas at the Quay.
Graeme Clark provided some background: "The upcoming Christmas performance provided us with the opportunity to slot a couple of yuletide numbers into the set which is something that weve never done before. These are two of our festive favourites and we quickly realised that we should record them too. The hope is that they bring some much-needed cheer into the uncertainty of Christmas past."
Tommy Cunningham said: "These songs have featured in a lifetime of Christmases for us and its just incredible to think that John Lennon first released release Merry Xmas (War Is Over) exactly 50 years ago whilst Have Yourself A Very Merry Christmas was written back in the 1940s."
Neil Mitchell said: "Christmas will bring the curtain down on a fantastic 2021 for the band which saw us return to live performance at long last after lock down with an brilliant run of summer shows."
Kevin Simm added: "This year also brought about the release of our new album The Journey that we are all extremely proud of. It seems fitting to end an amazing year with this special festive release."
