HISTORIC PAISLEY CHURCH TO TRANSFORM INTO MULTI-PURPOSE VENUE

A spectacular gothic church in the heart of Paisley will provide a new home for event goers and music lovers across Scotland. The management of Coats have today (Friday 13th September) announced that the venue will transform into an events and music space for up to 1000 people ? 130 years after first being built.

Until now the breathtaking space has been an award-winning wedding venue, but from November this year the Coats building, which dominates the Paisley skyline, will transform into one of Scotlands most Insta-worthy destinations.

Coats management are set to reveal an expansive programme, which will extend over the winter months and into 2025. As well as music, the programme will span a wide range of events, from child entertainment to festivals, screenings and seasonal celebrations.

Venue Director, Mark Brysland, said, "We are beyond excited to expand the current usage of the venue to the public ? more specifically, music lovers everywhere. Coats is a very special place, not only to Paisley, but to Scotland, and its always been our vision to marry its cinematic backdrop with incredible music.

"Moving forward, we will have our own programme of events, as well as events brought to you by local promoters and organisers too. The plan is to offer a jam-packed line up of entertainment, and a brand-new place for people to come and enjoy a night out.

"Coats is truly a magical place and we cant wait to welcome everyone through its doors."

Coats was originally built in 1894 as the largest Baptist church in Britain. After a period of falling into disrepair, the church was then salvaged and transformed with a renovation funded by a community fundraising campaign.

Now, the venue can be distinguished by its breathtaking nave with seating for 1000, a large ballroom and an eight-arched crown spire ? as well as multiple function suites, bar and a full-service kitchen.

Gavin Divers, Founder of Paisley Heritage, said "I genuinely couldnt be more excited to see the Coats building embark on this incredible journey. Coats is a beacon of Paisleys rich heritage and now it will evolve into a vibrant hub for music and events. I truly believe this new venue is the beginning of a cultural renaissance for Paisley and I cant wait to see the energy and creativity the Coats team will bring to the town."
