Detour Scotland & Bloc+Music Present

‘A Wee Jaunt 2’

A few months ago Detour and Bloc+Music an event called ‘A Wee Jaunt’ which took place around various venues and in-betweens in Glasgow. The day was a raging success and proved to everyone what you can do with some good ideas, an open mind and absolutely no money. You can see a video of the day here - http://vimeo.com/13397259
This time round we’re gonna do it bigger, better and more unusual than the last. Once again we will be bringing you to the best up and coming talent that Scotland has to offer and many, many other acts and surprises along the way.
Detour ( www.detour-scotland.com ) and Bloc+Music ( www.myspace.com/blocglasgow )have been making considerable waves on the Scottish Music scene for a while now and have worked with some of the best people imaginable. As a reward we have concocted A Wee Jaunt to give everyone who’s helped us along the way a day out with a difference.
We want you involved to cover this truly unique event and mark in print what no-one will expect.

The basic premise of the idea is to take around 40/50 like minded people who Detour and Bloc+Music have worked with over the year and organise a multi band / multi venue day out across Glasgow.

We will be showcasing some amazing Scottish acts in unusual environments in our own unique way. Please check out some of our recent days out on www.vimeo.com/detourscotland

We are looking to use multiple venues, multiple in-betweens and multiple acts throughout the day of Sun 22nd of August from 3pm.

We will be starting off this Wee Jaunt at St Enoch Square in Glasgow’s City Centre with a very special guest kicking the day off in unusual style. From there we will take you to the Arches for plenty of surprises inside, underneath and in-between. Expect to see some of Scotland’s premiere acts including Aerials Up, Ross Clark, The Seventeenth Century, Carnivores, Otherpeople and many more performing outside yours and their comfort zone. The big difference with this Wee Jaunt is that we will be loading you all on to a coach and taking you to a secret location for many more surprises, you have to be there from 3pm to get aboard though.

The nature of the beast is that no-one involved – guests, bands or venues will know what’s happening until it happens. You simply have to be there to be part of it.

The whole event is an ethical, DIY, community effort. No one is getting paid, no venue hires, no band fees, no ticket price – nothing. It’s simply an exercise in having a good time, bringing everyone together and trying to do something a little different.

Space at this event is extremely limited, we require an RSVP to ensure that the day runs smoothly and calm in our Feng Shui.
