The return of Sparrow & the Workshop is upon us. March 11th sees the Glasgow-based trio release their latest single ‘Shock Shock’ through independent label Song By Toad Records.

Never ones to let previous releases dictate their sound, Sparrow & the Workshop are back with a renewed vigour, an evolution of their craft and the rambunctious offering of ‘Shock Shock’.

Packing a punch from the off with a cacophonous guitar chord, ‘Shock Shock’ is an unrelenting wall of sound. Comprised of swirling guitar hooks of distortion, rumbling bass lines that contrast with the subtle intricacies of Gregor Donaldson’s drumming, this latest single marks a thrilling development for the trio.

Pulling all the musical craftsmanship together are the distinctive and rousing vocals of Jill O’Sullivan. Often compared to PJ Harvey and EmmyLou Harris, but with undertones of punk aggression, this further reaffirms that this progression in sound from Sparrow & the Workshop is a truly exciting prospect for the musical landscape of 2013.
