FRAZEY FORD LIVE AT GLASGOWS CELTIC CONNECTIONS FESTIVAL 2020

On 23rd January 2020, the Vancouver-based artist Frazey Ford returns to Glasgows Celtic Connections festival for an unmissable performance inside the ornate St Lukes music venue. Following the success of her widely acclaimed 2014 album Indian Ocean, her show at Celtic Connections comes ahead of the release of her new album, U Kin B The Sun – Out February 7th.

Frazey Ford is revered for her soulful voice, captivating live shows, and immersive lyrical storytelling. Her upcoming third album, U kin B the Sun inhabits an entire world of shapeshifting rhythm, elevating every beat and groove with the subtle magnetism of her mesmerizing voice. With its graceful collision of soul and psychedelia and sometimes 70s funk, its a body of work that invites both self-reflection and wildly joyful movement, and ultimately sparks a quiet transcendence. Ecstatic and heavy-hearted, gloriously shambolic and deeply purifying, U kin B the Sun is the outcome of a certain personal transformation that Ford has experienced in recent years.

Recorded at John Rahams Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, featuring her Vancouver musicians, Darren Parris, Leon Power, Craig McCaul and Caroline Ballhorn along with Phil Cook on keys, U kin B the Sun follows Fords 2014 release Indian Ocean, an album made with members of legendary Memphis soul band The Hi Rhythm Section. U kin B the Sun partly draws inspiration from several instances of serendipity that transpired during her international touring in support of Indian Ocean—including playing separate rooms in the same venue as DAngelo one night in Holland, which eventually prompted her 2017 cover of the iconic neo-soul singers "When We Get By."

Glasgows annual award-winning folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections is the iconic home of Celtic music and its coinciding cultures from around the world. This years festival will take place from 16th January to 2nd February 2020. An expected 2,100 musicians from around the world will descend on Glasgow for 18 days of concerts, traditional ceilidhs, talks, art exhibitions, workshops, and free events.
