Radio 1 warm up for the Big Weekend

One week before Radio 1s Big Weekend comes rolling into Glasgow, BBC Radio1Xtra brought a whole host of acts to get you in festival mode. 2 weeks on from The Riverside Festival the scene again was Glasgows Riverside Museum.

Featuring a host of Radio 1Xtra DJs and current chart toppers, this free event attracted a sell out crowd. Another free event as part of Radio 1s take over of everything music in Glasgow just now.

The area had 2 areas set up, the main stage and a smaller Chill out tent which everytime I walked by was jumping with big tunes!

As people started to arrive at the main stage, Fuse ODG fired through a set of tunes including Azonto, Antenna and Million Pound Girl

In between times Charlie Sloth would treat us all to some Hip Hop and R&B Classics.

Breach really got the party started with an excellent set. Deep house vibes had the crowd dancing. I am sure Jack was going on for around 10 minutes.
Ending with Everything You Never Had set us up for the rest of the evening, the chorus out sang by the very unradiofriendly Here We F****ng Go that was louder than the music coming out the soundsystem.

Duke Dumont smashed it with almost Caribbean drum sounding I Got You, the excellent The Giver, and the big hit single Need U 100% getting the biggest appreciation.

Mistajam with MC playing a party set within 1 minute everyone was bouncing as the basslines dropped. Showtek Booyah had everyones hands in the air. With everyone is such good spirits even the Harlem Shake didnt sound dated. including a long chat about babies of the 80s and 90s leading to a mass rendition of the Fresh Prince!
Jess Glynne joined the stage to play some of her hits including a rendition of her hit Rather Be with Clean Bandit.

DJ Fresh took to the decks with opener the hugely infectious Dibby Dibby Sound plus track like the brilliant Gold Dust Hot Right Now
It was round about now the pyrotechnics, fireworks and lasers really came into play. This was a massive production.
Other hits from Knife Party, Zombie Nation, Sigma and more appeared in this good time festival set. The highlight of the set for me was I Will Survive, hundreds of people singing along as the bass started to kick in with all the Glaswegian
crowd singing along to the 70s Classic.

The day was full of big bass lines, drops, singalong choruses and bouncing around. Lest we forget the famous Glasgow chant of Here we F*****g Go

Radio 1s Big Weekend (If you dont know already) takes place this weekend and features a massive lineup including Calvin Harris, One Direction, Kasabian, Royal Blood, Baby Strange, Honeyblood, Model Aeroplanes and many more.
