Snow Patrol - OVO Hydro 21/02/2025

A Triumphant Return to Glasgow

The atmosphere at the OVO Hydro was electric as a sold-out crowd eagerly awaited Snow Patrols return to Glasgow. The Northern Irish band, who have a deep-rooted connection with Scotland, didnt disappoint, kicking off the night with Take Back the City against a backdrop of stunning visuals.

A few songs in, frontman Gary Lightbody had a humorous moment when he forgot the lyrics to Crack the Shutters, laughing it off and receiving a wave of support from the crowd. He quickly regained his composure, proving once again why fans adore him?not just for his songwriting but for his charm and authenticity on stage.

The most emotional moment of the night came with Run, a song that holds special significance as it was written in Glasgow over 20 years ago. As the first chords rang out, the arena became a sea of lights, with thousands of phones illuminating the space in a shared moment of nostalgia and passion.

The band also took a moment to share a personal story before launching into Open Your Eyes. Lightbody recounted how bandmate Johnny McDaid had recently suffered a freak accident when a train door closed on his hand. Despite undergoing surgery, he powered through the performance, showcasing his dedication as he played piano, guitar, and keyboards with remarkable skill.

Even the relentless Glasgow rain outside couldnt dampen the spirits inside the Hydro. As the night reached its climax with Chasing Cars, Youre All I Have, and Just Say Yes, the crowd erupted, jumping and singing along with sheer joy.
