Volbeat / Bush - OVO Hydro 10/11/2025

Volbeat and Bush electrify loyal Glasgow Hydro crowd

Danish heavy hitters Volbeat and 90s rock icons Bush delivered a night of unforgettable riffs, soaring vocals, and arena-shaking energy at the Glasgow Hydro.

The Glasgow Hydro was pulsating with adrenaline on Monday night, as Volbeat headlined a powerhouse show with Bush supporting. From the first chord to the last encore, it was a celebration of 90s nostalgia, guitar-heavy anthems, stadium-sized hooks, and unrelenting energy.

Bush

Bush kicked things off with a punch, transporting the crowd straight back to the post-grunge of the 90s. A thoroughly experienced and confident band, they knew how to play to their strengths and spark the arena into action. Frontman Gavin Rossdale was a whirlwind of charisma, bouncing across the stage, dancing through the crowd, and feeding off every ounce of the audience.

The set flew in thanks to tracks like "Bullet Holes" and "The Land of Milk and Honey" which showcased the bands signature guitar-driven sound, while a stripped-back, spine-tingling rendition of "Swallowed" created one of the nights most intimate moments, with mobile phones held up in the air like a sea of stars.

A heavy cover of The Beatles "Come Together" was a particular highlight, drawing rapturous sing-alongs. While the gig drew an older crowd, it seemed to heighten the atmosphere. These were fans who knew every word and every riff, and they sang and cheered with unrestrained joy. Bush wasnt just a support act; they were a reminder that longevity, chemistry, and sheer stage presence still matter in rock.

Volbeat

When the curtain fell on Volbeat to an eager crowd, the energy dial in the room jumped up several notches. From the opening riffs of The Devils Bleeding Crown to the final encore, the Danish rockers delivered an effervescent arena-rock masterclass.

Formed in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2001, the band clearly maintained the loyalty of the Scottish crowd. Back in Glasgow for the first time since 2022, frontman Michael Poulsens magnetism held the crowd in a spell, having fun along the way while also ensuring the melodic edge to their burly back catalogue was fully absorbed.

They carried on with big numbers with songs like "Lola Montez", "Demonic Depression", "Shotgun Blues" and a fun Johnny Cash cover of "Ring of Fire" had the arena singing along, while newer tracks from God of Angels Trust, including the theatrical In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satans Spawn in a Dying World of Doom, (the title speaks for itself) demonstrated the bands knack for balancing the epic with the playful.

The stage production was just as spectacular, with multiple backdrops, an elaborate lighting rig, smoke cannons, and a runway stretching into the crowd, allowing a select few to get an up close and personal view of the show and talented guitarist Flemming C. Lunds superb showmanship.

Even fans at the back were treated to camera work that made every guitar riff and drum hit feel personal. Amid the spectacle, moments like "Time Will Heal" reminded everyone of the emotional depth hiding beneath the veneer, while the crowd, older, loyal, and utterly into it, sang along as if they were teenagers once again.

By the time the night wrapped, it was clear that Volbeat and Bush had delivered a consistently strong double bill to the pleasure of their fans, old and new alike. A great stage setup, terrific lighting, and fantastic music, the crowd left buzzing from the sheer force of the performances, proof that both bands can still command an arena of this size. Loud, chaotic, and unapologetically alive at the Glasgow Hydro.
