Jamiroquai - OVO Hydro 3rd December 2025

A clear sign that the hip retro disco trend is still well and truly alive!

Walking in, the disco and funk hit you like a big, shiny disco ball. The stage was lit with spectacular jazzy lighting, a nod to the feel-good, fun night in store! Almost like being back in the 90s but with fewer baggy jeans in sight! The show kicked off with Dont Give Hate a Chance, with the backup singers and the stunning stage adornments setting the scene for one electric evening.

Space Cowboy was the next highlight - the lights and the dancing highlighted that acid-jazz tinged disco is well and truly still alive.

"Nice one Glasgow, nice one Glasgow" a grinning Jay Kay uttered, as he went on to perform You Give Me Something. The crowd were clearly enjoying the uplifting effect of the song.

It was noticeable that there was a distinct diversity within the crowd as Jamiroquai commented on the range of the "young ones to the pensioners". All ages came in unison to enjoy over two decades of dance and funk.

Jay Kay then went off stage and came back on with his outrageous (but entirely expected) pink cowboy hat - setting the scene for the cool, charming and charismatic song Tallulah. The sealife scenery as the backdrop created an almost hypnotically mesmerising and enchanting atmosphere.

And Jays crazy, shiny, glittery hats just kept on coming as he implored "Glasgow, are you f*cking ready?" before launching into the aptly entitled Disco Stays the Same - the camp disco melody enticed the crowd to dance and funk even harder.

Shadow in the Night was played next - a typically groovy and cool song - reflected by the bold yellow lighting effects.

The show ended with a medley of three classic songs, kicking off with a remix of Cosmic girl, with a suitably astronomical background of stars and planets. Love Foolosophy was up next, with Jay showing off some of his hip dance moves. As Jay headed off the stage he shouted out "no Scotland, no party", sending the crowd into hysteria and then bringing them to a standstill for the final song.

"Its f*cking bling, that is" he declared, as he finished off with the legendary Virtual Insanity. And what a final encore it was, as Jay wore his signature over-the-top hat with poise and frenzied the crowd to funk along with him. A clear sign that the hip retro disco trend is still well and truly alive!
