The SMIA is very proud to announce the inauguration of The Scottish Album of the Year Award. Eighteen months in development, the award is the product of a comprehensive and ambitious consultation process which has involved sectors and genres from throughout the music industry. Everyone at the SMIA has strived to deliver a qualitative arts prize for music which is discerning without being elitist and is worthy of the exceptional music it aims to celebrate.
With an initiative of this scale, scope and ambition, the SMIA hopes to reassure its members (both current and prospective) that we have a vision for the music industry in Scotland that is bold and progressive. Pool on the hill – OPPORTUNITY FOR EXTRAS
We require extras as part of the production of a television pilot, to be broadcast later this year. The pilot will be an hour long music event showcasing the best emerging acts in Scotland with performances and interviews with the acts and an audience on location. Filming will take place on Saturday 7th of April at the Govanhill swimming baths, Glasgow and starts at 10am with filming until around 3pm. This fantastic space is run by a charity and includes the large, disused swimming pool and various locations within the building.
The film and sound team have worked with numerous acts from Alesha Dixon to Razorlight and Biffy Clyro and will be achieving high quality both sonically and visually. The bands and solo acts at present include: The Ashtones, Brown bear and the Bandits, The Edinburgh School for the deaf, Fiction Faction, Tragic O’Hara and Unoma Okudo.
