Read More The countdown is almost over. TENEMENT TRAIL, Scotland’s multi-venue music festival, returns to Glasgow tomorrow, Saturday 10th October, bringing a packed day of live music and emerging talent to the city.
Over 45 acts will take to the stage across eight venues in Glasgow’s East End, with fans set to enjoy 12 hours of music in the heart of the Barras. Headlined by Glasgow favourites Baby Strange and Brògeal, the likes of Barrowlands, Saint Luke’s, Barras Art and Design, Van Winkle, 226 Gallowgate, McChuills and The Gate will be alive with festival goers and some of the most exciting new artists.
Glasgow’s much-loved Baby Strange will reform for one night only to mark the tenth anniversary of their acclaimed debut album ‘Want It Need It’. They played the very first TENEMENT TRAIL back in 2013, and now they’re back to headline the iconic Barrowland Ballroom.
They’ll be followed by the iconic Brògeal who close the band line-up in BAaD. The Falkirk outfit’s debut album ‘Tuesday Paper Club’ has been longlisted for the SAY Award. The band first appeared at Tenement Trail in 2022 on the Barrowland 2 stage and since then have played TRNSMT, The Great Escape and Eurosonic, and supported Paolo Nutini, The Pogues and The Mary Wallopers. Set times have been arranged so fans can catch both headliners.
The rest of the line-up spans breakthrough Scottish talent and artists tipped for big things, exciting emerging touring artists and local heroes.
Here’s 10 things you need to know about the line-up this year:
Baby Strange: The only band on this year’s lineup to have played the very first TRAIL in 2013
Brògeal: They formed after meeting on Celtic supporters bus. The band spent lockdown rehearsing in Daniel’s garden under a leaky Asda gazebo.
The Ninth Wave: The Glasgow band return after almost a decade, having last played in 2017 on a bill with Sam Fender and Yungblud. They have just released comeback single ‘Bitumen’.
Cliffords: The Cork band formed after watching the film Sing Street, and have since supported Kings of Leon, Wolf Alice and Florence + The Machine. This is their Tenement Trail debut.
Spanish Horses: The London five-piece include guitarist Albert Cocker, son of Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.
Limonead: She went viral this year with her Scottish Gaelic hip-hop debut single ‘Nàche Buidhe Dhut’.
Tom A Smith: Now 22, he played Glastonbury before starting secondary school and has been picked out by Tim Burgess and Elton John.
THEATRE: This hotly tipped Limerick band have shared a stage with Lewis Capaldi at Thomond Park in Limerick earlier this year.
Ferguson Hi-Fi: Their debut single features Stevie Jackson of Belle & Sebastian and Dave McGowan of Teenage Fanclub.
Compost Compost Compost: This band grew out of a trio’s studies at the Guildhall School of Music, mixing folk songwriting with jazz, double bass and analogue electronics
Fatale: The upcoming Glasgow band released their first EP ‘Saint Mungo’ as a vinyl exclusive, and it sold out of its first run instantly. They still have no music on streaming sites.
With one ticket, fans can gain entry to all the venues throughout the day – until they reach capacity. Alongside the set times already published, they can expect some surprise sets along the way at The Gate and Barrowlands 2.
And The party doesn’t stop there. There’s also two secret sets at 11PM in McChuills, in honour of Baby Strange’s famous Club Sabbath nights, and an afterparty at St Luke’s until 2AM with DJs Dan South and Jacuzzi Baby.
